Piano Summer Camp

Summer is almost here! It is time of the year for families to get together and spend time with our children and our children get to try the things they always wanted to do. If your child has ever shown interest in piano lessons but hasn’t had time during the school year to get it going, then you are going to love this summer program offered by Piano Academy of Kansas City. Children will be able to learn how to play their favorite Disney songs.

Every student will have a fun fulfilling experience at the piano with piano camps, whether it is their first time at the instrument or not. A week-long piano camps were created to expose kids to playing the piano in a positive, group-class environment. Children will have an opportunity to play in the state-of-the-art Suzuki Piano Lab, where each child is at their own instrument and are able to interact with each other through the fun of making music together.

The camps are Monday-Friday, 9-Noon and end with a performance put together by students and teachers crescendoing into the fun Fairytale Themed Parade!

The camps are grouped by children’s ages: 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12. These piano camps are held in Piano Academy of Kansas City piano lab, where every child is at his or her own instrument. Parents are amazed at what their children learn during the camp week, and love getting to see their children show off at the Performance Day. Students love the group environment, as they love to interact and play with other children their age.

Students will spend 9 o’clock to noon with the camp teachers. Each day will be a blend of piano playing, arts and crafts, musical and coordination games, and snack time. Many games and reinforcement activities are played throughout the week.

Students jump into playing on the black keys of the piano right away on the first camp day. By camp day 2, students shift to the white keys in C position, and from there on, students are playing hands together and accompanying melodies with chord shells. By the end of the week, your child will understand keyboard-playing and music-reading basics such as rhythm reading, limited reading on the music staff, and playing songs hands together. Students will experience playing in a variety of musical styles, and even ensemble pieces with students on different parts. The kids are playing from day one and by the end of the week have an impressive program to share with their families.
